Columbia Association: Annual Dinner and Dance

The Columbia Association’s Annual Dinner and Dance is the organization’s major fundraising event of the year. Traditionally held in early May of each year, this gala event provides an opportunity to obtain a subscription in the organization’s prestigious Souvenir Journal, published in connection with the event. The evening is marked with the presentation of our “Person of the Year” Award, bestowed on individuals who most exemplify the ideals and goals of the organization. The year 2009 marked the 62nd anniversary of this special event. The monies derived from the Dinner and Dance, along with the subscriptions to our Souvenir Journal and annual membership dues, allow the organization to thrive and carry out its many charitable endeavors and scholarships.

Columbia Association: Italian Heritage Day

Solely as a way of expressing gratitude to its members and supporters and to commemorate our Italian heritage, each year the Columbia Association sponsors an Italian Heritage Day celebration. Traditionally held on a Thursday afternoon in early October at the prestigious Russo’s On The Bay catering facility in Howard Beach, Queens, the event features fine dining and dancing, along with an opportunity to meet Italian-American personages from all walks of life that are being recognized by our organization for serving as role models and for exemplifying the ideals and ethics of the Italian-American community. Our guests have an opportunity to meet with our honorees from the international trade, government, political, business, entertainment, education, religious, and sports communities, and to enjoy a beautiful fall afternoon in celebration of our Italian heritage. Instituted in 1997, this year marks the 13th anniversary of the event.

Columbia Association: Annual Open Golf Tournament

Much beloved by members and non-members alike since 1982, each year the Columbia Association sponsors an annual golf outing. Usually taking place in June at various golf courses in the tri-state area, the day includes a round of golf with green fees, electric cart, light lunch and beverages at the turn, followed by a barbecue or other dinner and full bar at the tournament end. The outing is one of the organizations fund-raising events; this year’s tournament on June 11, 2009 was held to benefit the victims of the April 2009 earthquake in the Province of L’Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Please join us for a day of fun, fresh air, companionship, food and excitement…no matter what your handicap.
